In future clinical practice, where personalized and advanced medicine will be the focus, the development of personalized tests, such as for the prediction of pathological conditions, will be essential. Therefore, when gene expression detection is included in clinical testing, the factors determined by gene sequences (genomic information) and environmental factors affecting gene expression (epigenomic information) should also be assessed.
In our laboratory, we are conducting research to elucidate these factors that influence clinical parameters and utilize this information in clinical laboratory testing.
The Center for Twin Research affiliated with the Graduate School of Medicine, where we concurrently serve, owns the only twin research infrastructure in Japan, allowing us to make effective use of its resources.
